Dr. Malone attended Boston University where she majored in Chemistry with a minor in Anthropology. Afterward, she completed a one-year term of service in the Bronx with AmeriCorps working as a reproductive health educator for high school students in the Hunts Point neighborhood. She then attended medical school at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her residency in General Surgery at Summa Health System in Akron, OH. She then completed her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Allegheny Health Network in a collaborative program split between St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA, and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Her fellowship training included advanced robotic surgery for the treatment of colon cancer, rectal cancer, anal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and transanal tumor excisions, as well as endoscopic techniques such as colonic stent placement, decompressive colonoscopies, and both screening and diagnostic colonoscopies. She has published articles in multiple journals including the American Journal of Surgery, presented at regional and national meetings including the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting, and given grand rounds including Schwartz Rounds.
Dr. Malone is dual board certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She practices broad-based colorectal surgery including screening colonoscopies and treats benign anorectal conditions, hemorrhoids, fecal incontinence, colon cancer, rectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Malone is an active member of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
