Dr. Thomas Rajan is a board-certified nephrologist with practices in Fort Worth and Weatherford. He is also board-certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Rajan was drawn to nephrology because of the challenges presented by kidney health. Dr. Rajan believes the best care occurs when patients are empowered with the right knowledge, and this is especially true with kidney disease.
“When we see someone with chronic kidney disease, that usually indicates there are other underlying health conditions present,” says Dr. Rajan. “Kidney disease is generally not something that suddenly appears in an otherwise healthy person; it’s often a result of another health condition, such as diabetes or hypertension.”
Dr. Rajan understands that the diagnosis of kidney disease is frightening, which is why he prioritizes spending time with patients to answer all their questions. Dr. Rajan strongly believes that even after a patient goes on dialysis, he or she must continue to work closely with their primary care physician. His general approach to patient care is “don’t do things on others you don’t want done on yourself.”
Dr. Rajan completed both his Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Rajan is fluent in Malayalam.
The health care profession runs in the Rajan family: one of Dr. Rajan’s brothers is also a nephrologist, one is an anesthesiologist, while the third is a dentist.
Dr. Rajan and his wife, also a medical doctor, have two children: Rebecca and Joshua.
